The story of the prodigal son seems somehow even more scandalous in this condensed version. The father's response is so unexpected.

My summary: God views us as his children, and goes to great lengths to save us from the results of our own disobedience, to bring us into a relationship with Him. All of Heaven rejoices whenever a sinner repents, and comes back into the family of God.

This simply means that Jesus Christ will accept us only if we recognize our sin and ask for forgiveness..... the Bible says that He is faithful and just to forgive us.

Read verse 21 in light of 1 John 1: 9
V 21 ‘The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”
1 John 1: 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

What do you make of this chapter? What do you think of my summary? How would you summarise it?

I summarised all 1,189 chapters of the Bible on Twitter - one tweet per chapter, one chapter per day for over three years.

These are the summaries of the book of Luke.

They are written to help you understand and remember what's going on in the chapter, but they're no substitute for reading the Bible for yourself.
